Players thank supporters- now ‘give us a goal!’

Gib’s players took to the ‘net in numbers with great thanks for the support they received which lifted them for the Liechtenstein match. Those rallied under the massive Gib. banner chanted throughout the 0-0 draw.

‘Give us a goal!’ is the message for tonight’s match against Latvia, kick off 8.00pm.

Gib.’s football against Liechtenstein was at times breathtaking , especially down the left – Gib.’s great strength. But many promising attacking moves broke down in the final passing move.

Tonight Coach Jeff Wood must make sure that there is a ‘striker’ attacking the crosses into the area.

He has seven to choose from and said they would all get ‘game – time’ over the weekend – so this would be a good chance to see what they can do.Who’d be a coach? Learning v Latvia should be the aim.

All on Wednesday’s team sheet got a run-out , with the exception of second keeper Jamie Robba – and no one let us down.

Gib’ first – half set- up against Liechtenstein – a solid wide ‘back four’ and a ‘diamond’ midfield, allowing our players to play their football – was greatly appreciated. The re-birth of the ‘Calpean Rhapsody’? We have the players with the skills.

We must hope that the FIFA legal ruling goes in our favour , then the players can gain international experience.
